The white-throated toucan is a bird found throughout the Amazon; Edwards published his first depiction of this bird, which he identified as the toucan or Brazilian pye, in plate 64 of part two of A Natural History of Uncommon Birds (London,1747). Although the published image is somewhat different from the drawing he executed for the Drayton portfolio, the written description suggests that these two birds are one and the same. This piece bears the ink inscription 4 in the upper left corner.10" height by 8 3/8" width
