George Edwards Eastern Screech Owl

$325.00
QTY

The little owl, or Eastern screech owl, is a small owl found in eastern North America and is the only owl in North America to have ear tufts. Edward's drawing was likely copied from Mark Catesby's original depiction made in the 1720s while in America and later published as plate 7 in volume one of his The Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands (London, 1731-1743). This piece bears the ink inscription 8 in the upper left corner.
