Eastern Meadowlark

$325.00
QTY

The eastern meadowlark is found from eastern North America to South America, where it is most widespread in the east. Adult eastern meadowlarks have yellow underparts with a black “V” on the breast and long hind toes. Edwards’ drawing was likely inspired by Mark Catesby’s original depiction made in the 1720s and later published as plates 32 or 33 (Lark and Large Lark, respectively) in volume one of his The Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands (London, 1731-1743).” This piece bears the ink inscription “16” in the upper right corner.
