$325.00

The crowned African crane, or grey crowned crane, is native to Africa and is found in dry savannah south of the Sahara, although it nests in somewhat wetter habitats. Edwards depicts two crowned African cranes in plate 192 in part four of his A Natural History of [Uncommon] Birds (London, 1751). In his description, Edwards notes that both birds were drawn from life; the first owned by Sir Hans Sloane and the second, presumed to be female, by Sir Charles Wager.
