Drayton Hall

Drayton Hall Journal

Throughout history, personal journals have provided windows into the lives of sometimes extraordinary, but often ordinary men and women. Here at Drayton Hall, we are fortunate to have years of diaries and journals of Charles Drayton, the second owner of Drayton Hall, from 1784 until his death in 1820. It is from these diaries that we have learned much about the lives of not only the Drayton family, but also the lives of the enslaved laborers living and working here. In keeping with the importance of written diaries, these notebooks, which feature four different images of the boldly crafted interiors here at Drayton Hall, are perfect for the modern journal keeper.
